Questions about the document finder

From the document tables (提出書類) on the pages of the Immigration Services Agency of Japan (ISA) for each status and procedure. We translated them into English and added short explanations. The form buttons open the ISA files; every week our server checks whether a new version has been published.
It is ISA’s list for your case. Immigration may ask for other documents too — for example, if something in the application raises questions. The full official list is in the ISA checklist, if there is one for your status, and on the ISA status page.
Your answers are saved in the page address: you can bookmark it or send it to someone. Ticks are stored only in your browser and are not sent anywhere, so you will not see them on another device.
Press Print or save as PDF, then choose Save as PDF in the print window. The PDF contains your document list with the ticks.
Open the forms library: it has the ISA forms for every status, by procedure. If you plan to study in Japan, apply with us — our help with the student visa is free.
Yes. Each person needs their own form and set of documents. When your family files together with you — for a CoE or an extension — the finder shows a separate list for your spouse and for each child. For a change of status, and for SSW (i) (特定技能1号), you get an explanation instead of a list.

Where this information comes from

Facts and document lists were checked against the website of the Immigration Services Agency of Japan (ISA) on 29 September 2026. Form links come from a register of ISA files that our server refreshes every week: when ISA publishes a new version of a form, the button opens the new file.

This page is general information, not legal advice. Immigration decides each application and may ask for more documents. Where a rule is known only from practice, we say so.
